Buongiorno.
I am Elena. I'm studying to be a philosophy professor. I enjoy thinking about why things are the way they are and I'm a huge supporter of the Socratic method... at least when you're old enough to not bitch. I'm partially pescetarian, partially not. Meaning that when I'm left up to my own devices, I don't eat meat, but if my mom makes chicken for dinner I'm not going to pitch a fit. I'm not physically aggressive, but I'll challenge your views for explanation. If I'm wrong, I'll say so. I try to use my melo for the good things as well as the bad so that it strikes some sort of a balance because in the past my blogs have all been very negative. I'm hoping to inspire myself to write all of the time, not just when I am distressed.
I've written this post a thousand times and filled it with things like pictures, lyrics and descriptions of who I am, but they are all pointless.
I like to read about people, people and their thoughts are fascinating, so I'd probably like to friend you.

Yeah, he won't admit to it but I am relatively sure I'm gonna have to go buy a new one.
Kind of felt like a constant itchy beesting that was under my skin, and on the spin it hurt the worst, but honestly it's really not as bad as it sounds :)
<3
For the piece he's charging me 150-200 for the entire piece. He's a well known artist around here, but I'm getting hooked up with the "I know people who know you and they think you're cool" discount haha.
well, tats for me feel good, in the sense that it stings as the initial shock, but after a minute your body goes into a form of shock and from there it varies.
I have great pain tolerance, so, for me it felt like a message. It doesn't hurt as bad as most say, it's the initial sting that scares people, and the buzzing sound.
Also, what is it and the price (by art or by hour)? I could tell yah if your getting a good deal.
Not at all.
In fact, I'll even friend you back.
:o)
p.s. do you mind if I friend you? (:
Totally nothing wrong with it! I popped Vicodin before I got the back of my arms done a couple days ago and it was nothing, and every one else who's had it done told me it was going to be awful. I totally texted the entire time and never even noticed.
Right now we're focusing more on metaphysics, but mainly on the very beginning views of Parmenides and Heraclitus. It's kind of blowing my mind.
No worries. I understand.
I was not looking for a debate, more just a hello, 'oh i thought this...i didnt know that...oh interesting...". Just curious what your class is teaching you, I took 1 or 2 philosophy classes about 6 years ago, so I do not remember them much. I hear lectures on them every once in awhile when we have a guest speaker on that topic, mostly I study apologetics, for fun. Science for real, or fake, science is such an odd field.
When our speaker came, he told us about this idea that they set up involving an elephant and everyone is blindfolded. The elephant represents God, and each person is holding a different part of the elephant so they describe God differently..? Have you guys seen this one?
Is it general psy? I had a ton of books to read in that class, I guess they were all different philosophers, I can't remember the names of it... What do you have to go through?
hells yeah! albaxxcore@gmail.com yo! <3 that sounds super rad!
I'm more interested in hearing what other people believe. I'm not really educated enough to have a full-out debate on religion, especially considering I have no practice in any religion because honestly? I believe life isn't what we think it is.
I'm sorry I was all cranky, I assumed you were just someone who wanted to bicker with me because that seems to be 95% of the people who try to talk to me about that stuff, haha.
I'm getting the COOLEST piece of graffiti to commemorate my trip to Italy. I don't really want to post the picture until I get it put on me because I'm weird and I like to be all individualistic, haha. I'll email/AIM it to you though if you want!
Haha, I was thinking of popping one or two of my old Vicodin from when I was really sick before going in.
I'm getting a really sick piece of graffiti I saw when I was in Florence, Italy. :3
i don't exactly agree with astoria because i practically hyperventilate when i get blood drawn/shots, but i do just fine with piercings and tattoos. i think a good way to gauge if it'll hurt a bit is how sensitive does it feel when you run your finger over the area? parts of the tattoo on my forearm were kinda dull, annoying pain, but going around the sides stung a bit more. and think of it as a stingy, pin prick kinda feeling, not a banging your elbow.
honestly you'll be fine. find something in the room to focus on [if there's flash on the walls it's fun to look at that and giggle] it's even better. :D
whatcha gettin'?
Not bad at all. Of course I have my side, spine, feet, fingers, and backs of my arms tattoo'd also so I may not be the best to go off of...
If you're worried, take some pain killers before you go. Preferably Advil and not Tylenol/Asprin since they thin your blood.
Youl be fine though. Pinkey swear.
:o)
when i got my too tattoos it actually didnt hurt. it feel like little bites more people say that it hurts but it really doesnt
ohhh. what do you plan on getting? i debated getting one on my shoulder blade for a while.
right now i've only got my foot, lip, and behind my ear tattoo'ed.
my guess is that it won't hurt too bad, depending on how much cushion you have between your skin and bone in that area. (:
LOL that is like me with the whole vegetarian thing. Left to my own devices....I never eat meat. I am a wayyy picky meat eater, but if I am home with my mom and she cooks something with meat in it...I will still eat it. I am sooo not a pescatarian though because I do not like fish/seafood.
If you can get a needle of any kind -blood tests etc.... it will be fine. But remember, the more 'bone' in the area, the more it will be tender and hurt. :) Good luck!
I love talking about this, I am not trying to accomplish anything. To me this is very interesting. I hope you don't see my tone as negative, just more on the side of curiosity. I love studying religion and have been interested in how philosophy views religion, I have been to many talks on it and I love hearing all sides.
The reason Christianity has been biased, and influenced by horrible people is because people are imperfect. Political systems are imperfect right and left, you wont find a perfect utopia. People are bent by their own greed, they become influenced by money. That is why you cannot look to the people for the example. In Christianity you have to look to their prophet Jesus, who was the only perfect man. Also in Islam they would say the same thing, to look to their prophet Muhammad. So it is not the people, because we are all hypocrites, have been, and not one of us can say we are good.
I apologize if you got the wrong idea as to why I was asking you questions. In your introductory post you love philosophy and talking about why people think they way they do. (not exact quote just generalizing) I like talking to people to see why they came to believe what they know and etc ...
Not necessarily greek mythology, but other ideologies. I mentioned one of them in my post. In fact, Paganism had a lot of influences on earlier practices of Christianity.
Is there any particular reason you're so set on talking to me about this? Do you have something to accomplish by challenging the facts I stated? Can you name even one time where the practices and/or beliefs of the "Christians" haven't been biased, influenced by horrible people, corrupted by political systems or just all-out distorted by some leader or another?
okay...I will re-phrase my question
"Christianity itself started as an entirely different religion"
What part of greek mythology carried itself into christianity?
"[Greek Mythology] is by far not the only religion to not stand the test of time: Christianity itself started as an entirely different religion and ended up adopting the holidays of the Pagans/Nordics in order to entice more people into the following."
I didn't say that it came from different religions, I said that it took holidays from other religions.
If you're going to challenge me at least quote me correctly.
Who's to say that in 2,000 years that Christianity will not be a new "mythology" and something new will come along?
Well in 2,000 yrs, the Bible hasnt changed from the dead sea scrolls, you can take a hebrew Bible and go to israel and compare them, they are still word for word.
The 'church' for example, is not necessarily christian. they dont follow the Bible, they add a bunch of things into it for their own gain, ie paying for sins to be forgiven, going to a priest for confession...stuff that was never in the Bible anyways. They persecuted scientists in the past because they believed the orbits of the earth had to be circles, when in reality, the Bible said the heavens werent perfect, just like the angels werent perfect. so it was the 'church' making up their own rules.
When you say Christianity came from a bunch of other religions ? Which ones are you speaking of?
My favorite combo is definitely mad hatter and midnight tea party right now though.
I even have half the shades already, but the pop-up Wonderland has me totally entranced.
Hahaha, it's SUCH a great palate! I've been having *way* too much fun with it, haha.
I GOT THE ALICE SET TOO OMG IT'S THE MOST EXCITED I'VE EVER BEEN ABOUT A COSMETIC PURCHASE, EVER. The Urban Decay forum boards are EXPLODING with people panicking because they're sold out everywhere, going "please help me find Alice! I'll pay double what you paid!" BWA HA HA
I love it so far. Although I'm still more of a fan of Too-Faced's eyeshadow primer than Urban Decay's.
You got the Alice in Wonderland kit? is it awesome?
I was sure you would appreciate them, Jinni, haha.
